Our Deacons
Al DeLisle
Al is currently active as a Deacon and Visitation Minister at NCC. In addition, he serves on the security, helps prepare church bulletins for Sunday services, aids in setting up the facilities, and records the Saturday morning Men’s Bible Study lessons. He was born in 1928 in Flint, Michigan, and became a believer in Jesus Christ as a teenager. Al and his wife were high school sweethearts and married in 1947. They have 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In 1995, after 48 years of marriage, Al’s wife died of leukemia and is now in the presence of the Lord. Al was an employee of General Motors Corporation from 1947 to 1987. In 1960 he was transferred to St. Louis to become a General Supervisor of maintenance in the Parts Division, and after 40 years of service, has retired.
Mike Grant
Mike serves in many facets at NCC including church set-up, teaching Tuesday morning men’s Bible study, the Sunday usher team, and many other tasks. The Lord gracefully drew Mike to himself 23 years ago. Despite being raised in a religious system that was not founded in the truth, he did not embrace it. Instead, he filled his life with fleshly pursuits and material accumulation. In 1989, the Lord completely redirected his life, giving him a vision for his life and passion of his heart to obey the Lord’s commands while abiding in Him. Mike considers himself incredibly blessed to be married to his wonderful and beautiful wife Diane. They have four children, two that are in college and two that are still at home, and by the mercy and grace of God all four have a relationship with Christ. Currently, Mike is a Sales Engineer who works for a Japanese manufacturer of commercial and industrial electric motor controls.
Karl Heinemann (On Sabbatical)
Karl serves as a deacon, helping with communion and overseeing the offering collection. He was one of the first two deacons to serve at NCC. Although Karl knew about God, he did not understand what it meant to have a personal relationship with Him. After marrying Jean in 1978, Karl and Jean began attending church, sitting under the teaching of God’s word, and attending Bible study. In 1983, he repented of his sins and received Christ as his savior. Since then, he has grown in his relationship with the Lord, and views his salvation as the best gift he will ever receive. Before retirement, Karl worked as a Supervisor Cartographer for 38 years in St. Louis. Karl and Jean have a blended family of 7 children and 18 grandchildren, who bring them great joy.
Chuck Lieberman
Chuck was part of the initial group of deacons at NCC. He oversees many areas of the ministry such as: the ushers, screening outside benevolent requests made, and the heading up of the Parking Lot Sale’s large item pick up crew. In addition, he also oversees the scheduling of events at the church and helps in many areas of building maintenance. Chuck began to attend NCC reluctantly, to appease his loving wife, Carol. After several months, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Chuck and Carol have been married 46 years and have four children and six grandchildren. Before retiring, he was blessed with a sales career that he enjoyed immensely.
Joe Pesnell
Joe serves on the Finance Committee, Safety & Security Team, and oversees housekeeping. Having been raised in a Christian family, he experienced the blessings of knowing Christ at an early age. God's abundant grace has touched every aspect of Joe's life, through college and into his professional life and family life. By His grace, they were introduced to NCC as it was beginning, and his family has been greatly blessed as a result of NCC's dedication to biblical teaching. Joe graduated from the University of Missouri's School of Business, Finance & Banking, and focuses on investment management. He resides in Chesterfield with his wife, Lyn. Their son, Jonathan, is pursuing his career in Columbia, Missouri.
Stan Tusman
Stan leads our community service efforts, aids those in our church that are unable to afford needed home repairs, and assists with facility maintenance. Stan is from a Jewish background, and came to faith in Yeshua a quarter century ago. He is currently retired after working for 53 years in many aspects of retail such as: finance, information technology, planning & allocation, and various management roles. His wife, Gail, is a huge support as he faithfully serves the Lord. Together they have been blessed with five children in addition to five grandchildren.
Bill Toole
Bill serves as a deacon on the finance committee and Men’s Ministry leadership team. He is also a part of our usher team and a member of the choir. Bill began attending NCC in 1995 at a point when his spiritual life was at rock bottom. Through the teaching of Pastor Jerry, the Elders and other believers, his understanding of The Word was made clear and he knew he wanted to have a saving relationship with God. He repented of his sins, coming freely and willingly to Christ for the salvation of his soul. Bill is blessed with a loving and caring family. He and his wife of 44 years, Susan, have two children and two grandchildren. Before retiring, his career spanned over 40 years in the private sector of the aerospace business.
Dave Utterback
As a deacon, Dave shares responsibility for NCC facilities and community service ministries. Dave is a sinner, who was saved by the grace of God at age 52. His loving and patient wife, Marilyn, encouraged him to seek a saving relationship with the Lord, and since then he has been a faithful steward of His will. He was educated as an Engineer, and holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Mechanics. In addition, he spent 35 years in various technical and managerial positions at McDonnell Douglas, before retiring in 1997.
