The book of James is full of familiar Christian phrases but also has been met with some confusion and controversy. This Word-focused study will help us to see and understand James’ consistent message which simply put is “a stirring exhortation to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which we have been called.”  In the midst of an inconsistent and spiraling culture, a fresh understanding of this message is sure to provide the encouragement needed to remain steadfast on the path of righteousness.

This series, edited by J.I. Packer, was created to help readers know and understand the meaning, the message and the God of the Bible. Greg Gilbert (MDiv, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) is senior pastor at Third Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. He is also the author of What Is the Gospel?; and Who Is Jesus?; and is the coauthor (with Kevin DeYoung) of What Is the Mission of the Church?

Please join us beginning Friday, September 10, from 9:30-11:30 am as we meet together in small groups for discussion and prayer as well as a whole group for teaching, scripture memory and outreach activities.

There will be a children’s program and a homeschool room as we want to accommodate our moms with children who are being educated at home. You will be able to sign up your children when you register for class.

There is no fee to attend this class but you will need to order your own book which can be found on Amazon,  Crossway as well as other major book retailers. (James: A 12-Week Study (Knowing the Bible) by Greg Gilbert). Please complete the introductory lesson of Week One prior to our first meeting on September 10.  A donation towards our children’s program would be greatly appreciated and can be done so by mailing a check made out to NCC and designated to Friday Study Childcare (16801 Manchester Rd, Wildwood, MO 63040) or brought to any of our Friday meetings.
