September 16, 2018

3:00pm – 5:00pm

Category: Foundations Family Ministry

Historians agree that the English word “picnic” comes from the French term “pique-nique”, which was used from the mid-1600s on to describe families who brought their own food when enjoying the great outdoors. Up until Victorian times, picnics were primarily a pursuit of the wealthy as picnics often consisted of cold roast beef, four meat pies, cheesecakes and one large cold plum pudding.

Today, cold fried chicken, chilled watermelon and ice tea are all hallmarks of modern-day picnics, as well as that ubiquitous favorite, potato salad.

Bring your picnic basket and join the Family Foundations for one of the last events of the summer on September 16th at Glencoe City Park from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

All families, all ages are invited!
