Rich Barthelmass
Rich began attending NCC in early 1995 when he entered the door as an unbeliever. He began attending a small group bible study and through God’s sovereign grace and the glory of God’s creation, was saved shortly after. Rich and his wife, Diane were married by Pastor Jerry in 1996 and have three wonderful children, Nick, Blake, and Alayna. Rich serves in Ascend Student Ministry and also leads a team of ushers as they serve on Sunday mornings. Rich serves to facilitate outdoor activities for our various ministries at NCC and takes advantage of the many bible studies offered to stay focused on God’s word. Rich grew up working alongside his father starting in 1970, when General Grant Car Wash was established. He has been blessed with working with his father almost every day until his passing in early 2016. Rich now shares his passion and entrepreneurial spirit with his oldest son Nick, as they enter into the third generation of car wash professionals.
Kevin Garrett
The Lord provided for Kevin Garrett to be raised in a home with believing parents and through faithful proclamations of the gospel in the local church, he was saved at a young age. Kevin is from Poplar Bluff, Missouri and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. With a passion to serve the Lord, it was during his time in college that Kevin realized a desire to represent Christ as a businessman. He understands business as a mercy gift where he serves as an ambassador for the good news of the Messiah Jesus Christ. Kevin and his wife Beth were married in 1997 and have lived in Ohio, Kansas and Missouri. They are parents to Joshua, Caleb, Anna and Abby. Serving the family at New Community Church under the leadership of our Elders is a blessing for Kevin where amongst other duties, he serves our Missions, Evangelism and Outreach ministries.

Mike Grant
Mike is a thankful man who was given the mercy & grace to see both his sin and his fallen position before our Holy God. The Lord, via His Spirit, gave him a confessing, softened and penitent heart. His faith is in God's perfect plan of redemption (Ephesians 1:4).
The Lord gracefully drew him over three decades ago. He was raised in a religious system that did not have a foundation based on truth. By God's grace, he did not embrace these teachings. However, he submitted his spiritual needs with fleshly pursuits and material accumulation. For many years, he attached his heart to the passions of the world. By the mercy of God, he recognized his depravity and separation from God. In January 1989, the Lord provided him grace, through faith. His life was (and is) completely redirected as Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became his preeminent desire.
He has been incredibly blessed with a wonderful and beautiful wife of 30+ years. He and Diane have four adult children. By the mercy and grace of God, all four of their adult children love our Lord and our learners. All four are now married to Christ followers.
His vocational calling is that of a Sales Engineer. He works for a Japanese manufacturer of commercial and industrial electric motor controls. However, his priority and highest calling is to be salt and light in this fallen world, while reflecting the love that Christ personified in His living, dying, and wonderful resurrection.
The NCC ministries in which he is privileged to serve include discipling believers, the NCC deacon ministry, benevolence ministry, small group ministry, greeting-connect ministry and serving in various teaching opportunities as they are presented. Psalm 73:1
Mark Head
Mark is grateful for his believing parents and God's grace in bringing him to a saving faith in Jesus at a young age. Mark married Jackie in 1990 and they have been richly blessed with 7 children - Abby, Andrew, Alle, Aidan, Anna, Adam, and Addison - several of whom are currently involved in various ministries at NCC. He is humbled by the love God has shown in bringing him and his family to NCC. Mark has an IT career split between management and Database Administration. Attending church each week with so many young families and multitudes of little children that are being shown God's grace and faithfulness through His Holy Word is the highlight of Mark's week (Matthew 19:14). He enjoys serving NCC as part of the Youth Ministry, communion, outdoor activities, church gatherings, and anything else the "senior" deacons come up with.
Tom Heinemann
Tom Heinemann has attended New Community Church for more than 30 years. Tom was drawn to NCC in it’s beginning by his parents, Karl and Jean Heinemann, who were part of the small core group of original members. Tom and his wife Janet have had the blessing of raising their three children, Tommy, Maggie, and Karlee under the solid teaching of Pastor Jerry Marshall and the biblical leadership of the NCC student ministries. They have now added to their family as each of their children have married. Their growing family includes six grandchildren.
Tom gave his life to Christ at the age of 16 when a friend shared with him the gospel track, Peace with God by Billy Graham. He has been steadily growing in the Word by committing himself to daily quiet times, small group Bible studies, and other Men’s Ministry growth opportunities. Serving on the Men’s Ministry Leadership Team and leading an usher team are also ways that Tom serves at NCC.
Although Tom holds a Lifetime Certification in Education from Missouri State University, God called him to be a business owner early in life as a Paint Contractor. He has owned his own painting business for the last 40 years.
Tom’s true heart is to serve others, and he finds it a gift and a privilege to serve the church body as a Deacon at New Community Church. (Col. 3:17)
Ethan Keller
Born and raised at NCC, Ethan came to saving faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 12 through the faithful gospel witness of his parents and of NCC’s youth ministry. Since high school, Ethan has served the people of God in music, both at NCC and in campus ministry while at the University of Missouri (of which he is a proud graduate). Ethan currently leads NCC’s Sunday morning music ministry and is grateful to continue NCC’s long legacy of faithful lay musicians. His passion is to use music to exalt the name of Christ and edify the people of God, as the word of Christ richly dwells in them (Colossians 3:16). Ethan also provides worship music for various ministry events throughout the year, serves on the men’s ministry leadership team, and is active in small groups and men’s bible studies. By trade, Ethan is a fourth-generation accounting professional, working as a manager in the business valuation practice of a large public accounting firm.
Shawn Ray
God in His grace granted Shawn faith in Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior at a young age. Shawn has lived most of his life in the Saint Louis area and married Jana in December of 1991. Shawn and Jana came to New Community Church in July of 2018 and immediately fell in love with the church body, the expositional teaching, and the church’s desire to learn and practice God’s word. Shawn serves in the Men’s ministry, Small Groups, and other ministries at NCC. Shawn desires to have and maintain a high biblical view of God that fuels humility and drives obedience.
Bill Toole
Bill serves as a deacon on the Mercy Ministry Liasion Team and as head of the Men’s Ministry leadership team. Bill began attending NCC in 1995 at a point when his spiritual life was at rock bottom. Through the teaching of Pastor Jerry, the Elders and other believers, his understanding of The Word was made clear and he knew he wanted to have a saving relationship with the Lord. He repented of his sins, coming freely and willingly to Christ for the salvation of his soul. Bill is blessed with a loving and caring family. He and his wife of 46 years, Susan, have two children and two grandchildren. Before retiring, his career spanned over 40 years in the private sector of the aerospace business.
